A Brief History
Beginning in 1985 when an African pastor, Frank Mandozo, was praying and asking God for help for his people, Darlene Matthews Ministries in Africa was born. Many days later, Frank found a piece of paper with Pastor Matthews’ name and address while cleaning up the market place in Thyolo. This is quite a miracle considering that Darlene is not associated with any denomination and had never been to Africa! Frank contacted her and asked for her help. She replied to him that she did not have a big ministry and did not know if she could provide the kind of help he needed. At his insistence that God had lead him to her, the ministry started sending Frank $25.00 and some clothes monthly. From that humble start, there are today 50 churches and 2 orphanages associated with Darlene Matthews Ministries.

Where We Are Now
Pastor Matthews and the ministry have continued to help Africa by supporting the pastors, distributing Bibles, feeding orphans and widows as well as providing clothes each month.
She has held numerous crusades in Africa to reach those who do not know Jesus and with the explosive teaching of Pastor Matthews and DMM Director Frank Mandozo, many people have given their lives to Jesus.
Many children have made commitments to Jesus as well. Under the direction of Robin Sage and Monique Matthews, a children’s ministry was established during the last visit to Africa. Many of these children have never heard about the love of God.
We consider it a great honor to represent Jesus in Malawi and Mozambique. The needs are great. More than 500,000 orphans are in Malawi because their parents have died from AIDS or other diseases. Not only are the orphans and others hungry physically, but they are hungry spiritually. Many walk miles to reach the areas where God’s word is preached.
Even though these needs are great, we are confident that God is providing for His children in Malawi and Mozambique and we are humbled and honored to be a part of it!
